DIAL Ltd. has started the implementation of Contract No BG16RFPR001-1.001-0505-C01 for grant funding under the procedure BG16RFPR001-1.001 "Implementation of Innovations in Enterprises".
As of 12.03.2025 г., DIAL Ltd. has started the implementation of Contract No BG16RFPR001-1.001-0505-C01 for grant funding under the procedure BG16RFPR001-1.001 "Implementation of Innovations in Enterprises". The contract is for the provision of grant funding under the "Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises" Program 2021-2027, with a project duration of 18 months.
The total value of the project is 594 890.00 BGN, with the grant funding amounting to 60 % or 356 934.00 BGN.
The main objective of the project proposal is related to the development of a unified approach that is fast and gentle and is related to the implementation of an innovative service for the calculation of the TID and the accreditation of the methodology is related to the experimental development of a complex of radioanalytical procedures necessary for the determination of key radionuclides.
The implementation of the proposed product innovation is applicable in a thematic area of ISSS 2021-2027 "Clean Technologies, Circular and Low Carbon Economy", subarea "Technologies for efficient use of resources, reduction of hazardous substances, use of alternative raw materials and materials, extending the life of products, and using them in other industries and services". The project will be developed in several stages, moving sequentially from TRL 2 to TRL 6.
The development of the innovation in business processes under the specific project proposal will contribute to the overall improvement of the control of drinking water quality in the country, since at present there is no similar set of methods through which such a comprehensive analysis can be carried out, as well as to determine all indicators. The development of such an innovation will contribute to both meeting European and national regulations, but will also improve the quality of life of the population, as it will reduce the risk of diseases, various types of injuries resulting from the use of contaminated water sources and/or proximity to such.
DIAL Ltd. has started the implementation of Contract No. BG16RFPR001-1.003-0330-C01 for grant aid under procedure BG16RFPR001-1.003 - Implementation of Innovations in Enterprises.
As of December 16, 2024, DIAL Ltd. has started the implementation of Contract No. BG16RFPR001-1.003-0330-C01 for grant funding under the procedure BG16RFPR001-1.003 "Implementation of Innovations in Enterprises". The contract is for the provision of grant funding under the "Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises" Program 2021-2027, with a project duration of 15 months.
The total value of the project is 595,699.00 BGN, with the grant funding amounting to 50% or 297,849.50 BGN.
The main goal of the project proposal is to receive support for the implementation of an innovative product innovation in a priority area of ISIS. The plan is to implement an innovation by developing an innovative service - "analysis of microplastics in water, soil, sludge, and sediments," which will provide a comprehensive study of the presence of microplastics in various sources.
The project innovation, through its useful model, will contribute to the development of a validated and verified methodology that will not only determine the number of microplastic particles in a given sample but also identify the type of polymer. This would help control bodies assess the risks of microplastics to humans and the environment, as these risks are still unknown due to the variability of their physical and chemical properties, composition, and particle concentration.
The implementation of this project proposal will create an opportunity for the further development of the company as an innovative entity. Through the newly purchased equipment, the company will introduce product innovation in the thematic area of ISIS 2021-2027 "Clean Technologies, Circular and Low Carbon Economy", subarea "Technologies for efficient use of resources, reduction of hazardous substances, use of alternative raw materials and materials, extending the life of products, and using them in other industries and services".
The innovation will support not only the company's development but also the establishment of the Bulgarian market as part of the global niche for environmental and human health risk analysis, by assisting in the development and implementation of integrated monitoring of plastic micro-particles and the creation of a standardized methodology for determining the microplastic content in environmental objects.
We have successfully completed our participation in the annual IAEA’s interlaboratory test
Participating in independent proficiency tests and interlaboratory comparisons are an important tool for CSRL at DIAL Ltd as an accredited laboratory to show evidence of the validity of its results, as well as to guarantee the reliability of their quality. For its part, every year the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) conducts proficiency tests in the field of radiology and radiochemistry for environmental samples and for the stable isotopic composition of natural products. More than 300 laboratories from all over the world participate in these interlaboratory comparisons every year. According to the received report from the statistical processing of all results for 2024. our laboratory has achieved satisfactory results on all reported characteristics within the scope of accreditation.
Regular and successful participation in interlaboratory trials and proficiency tests gives us self-esteem and confidence in the quality of the analysis results we provide to our customers as a service and motivates us to constantly improve our analytical techniques.
International conference "Nuclear Energy for People"
From 1.10 to 4.10.2024, colleagues from the CSRL team at DIAL OOD took part in the international conference "Nuclear Energy for People", organized by the Bulgarian Nuclear Society. The purpose of the annual event is to attract young specialists, experts and learners related to nuclear technologies and their application, as well as to create a space for exchange of experience and important discussions on nuclear topics. As a participant in the presentation part of the conference, PhD Valentin Georgiev, a radiochemist in the laboratory of DIAL OOD, presented a current topic with a public response "URANIUM, POLONIUM AND RADIUM CONTENT IN DRINKING WATER FROM HASKOVO REGION DURING THE PERIOD 2019-2024.", with which he won the prestigious second place in the competition for the best young author. This year, exceptionally, due to the diversity of the exciting topics, the conference jury decided to award the honorees three equal second place awards, excluding the first and third place nominations. The presentation is based on reviewed results of large-scale monitoring of the content of natural uranium, Po-210 and Ra-226 in the Haskovo region in the period 2019-2024.
Two other participants from the DIAL OOD team presented themselves with posters.
Lyuben Dobrev presented a poster on "DEVELOPING A NEW EXPRESS SCREENING METHOD FOR RADIUM-226 IN WATER SAMPLES". He summarized how, driven by the need from measuring of the specific activity of Ra-226 in a large number of water samples, colleagues in the laboratory developed a new and rapid qualitative method for determining its activity in water samples. The new screening method is based on the selectivity of MnO2 to radium ions in neutral aqueous solution.
Rositsa Peycheva, a physicist in the DIAL OOD laboratory as a poster presenter described a rapid and reproducible procedure for the detection of uranium and the isotopic ratio of U-234, U-235 and U-238, which is applicable to both environmental water samples and radioactive produced waters from human activity. This interesting monitoring is presented in a poster on the topic "RAPID DETERMINATION OF URANIUM ISOTOPES IN DRINKING WATER BY ICP-MS"
